Fetal Alcohol Spectrum disorders (FASD) and Early Life Trauma (ELT) have been identified as areas of growing significance requiring urgent action in the Kimberley, and more widely across Australia.

The Marulu Strategy was set up in 2009 as a collaborative program representing community, non-government and government organisations to overcome FASD and ELT across the Fitzroy Valley, with sub-strategies addressing prevention, screening, diagnosis and support, capacity-building and resourcing.
